BISONS Racecar Night | Watkins Glen Animation

This animation was made for Race Car Night for the Buffalo Bisons I storyboarded multiple versions and took the lead on this project. I had another intern who I helped make the title cards, car model and some of the mascot characters (celery & Bleu Cheese) based off the two I had modeled (Chicken wing & Carrot.) I storyboarded the project, animated all the scenes, modeled and rigged the arms and legs of the mascots and made individual renders for each character, I made multiple sets including a moving road for close up animations and a set for the stadium including the surrounding area of buffalo sourced from google maps.

This animation was made using Blender 5.0 and DaVinci Resolve 20

Character models and renders

For this project I had to rework the mascots into an animatable form and I wanted to go the route of making them look like rubber-hose characters inspired by the 1920s rubber hose style animations, that is where the gloves and shoes draw from. I modeled the arms and legs and animated them with shape keys and bendy bones rigging.

My goal with these characters was to look as close to the real mascot outfits while giving them life in animation. It was also to make them usable in future projects for advertising or stadium animations for the Buffalo Bisons.
